Strawfield is a Family Farm. Our Mission Statement is:
To Preserve the beauty, productivity and integrity of the Family Farm.
Our Farm is 5 acres located in Greenbank down the road from the Greenbank Farm. Our main house is straw bale construction with a view to the meadow where our pigs are roaming and rooting. Our flock of poultry includes mixed breeds of chickens, Peking ducks, Guinea hens and a mixed breed of Turkeys. The flocks are all housed in coops behind the barn and are out in the day, to free range.
We have a Farm Stand right outside our gate. We practice the Honor System, where we sell fresh eggs, flowers, fresh from the field produce, along with a variety of farm-girl style gift items. We are adding a batch of new chickens and ducks along with turkeys this spring to provide more egg production. We will also be raising pigs for our 3rd time and will be happy to take orders for meat.
A small field of Italian Lavender, right out by the clothes line, provides beautiful dried bouquets. Table Grapes face south and can be seen from our front door. Our field will have a focus on herbs for our House Spice and our Field Tea. Flowers will be a big focus with the hope of providing bouquets for Weddings.
We are planning to make apple cider caramels. Also we are hoping to have our House Spice, which is a salt blend along with our Field Tea. This is a herb tea blend which is grown on the Farm. We hope to have end of the season produce, including a variety of Pumpkins, and bouquets of dried Italian lavender and some fresh flower bouquets in mason jars with water.
