My style of painting has grown out of my background as a fine artist, graphic designer and illustrator. My paintings “break the rules” by combining illustrative realism with naive simplicity. I use rich, bright oil or acrylic pigments in combination with strong simple composition. My favorite subjects are animals, birds and plants found in agricultural settings. I enjoy taking my subject, whether it is a cornstalk, rooster or cow and making it seem “larger than life.” I lift the subject above the ordinary and transform it into art through color and design.
