Fern Ridge AlpacasGretchen & Hal Schlomann –
7343 Holst Rd, Clinton, WA 98236 (206) 778-9619 www.fernridgealpacas.com Our herd of 17 curious alpacas and friendly guard llamas are ready to welcome you to the farm where we raise alpacas for fiber harvest and breeding stock. Visitors will enjoy a self-guided tour, scavenger hunt for the kids, informational displays, and a chance to pet and feed treats to the alpacas. Just in time for the Whidbey Island farm tour, two beautiful new crias (baby alpacas) have arrived. Learn all about these environmentally-friendly creatures and see fiber artists in action. Kirsten Clauson of The Herbal Workshop will be on hand to talk about all things herbal and sell her locally made, 100% natural, handcrafted plant-based soaps (no dyes, no synthetic fragrances). And, we'll be introducing our new combined product: Kirsten's herbal soap felted with alpaca fiber. Your soap and washcloth in one! We will also be highlighting our new vermiculture program — worms turning alpaca manure into a nutrient rich soil amendment. Stepping into our farm store in a yurt, you will find alpaca yarn, roving, clothing, rugs, blankets and duvets, products from local fiber artists, plus felted items, gifts and worm castings for your garden. And, plenty of adorable alpaca photo opportunities! Directions: From Hwy 525, turn onto Deer Lake Road (right if southbound, left if northbound) and follow approximately 2 miles where it merges with Holst Road. Continue straight on Holst about 1 mile to 7343 Holst Road. |
